Stakeholder #2

Below is information on a second stakeholder in my controversy.  Seeing how the controversy was based off of her appearance, she has a bit to say on the issue; however unlike Macaulay, people are not frustrated or angry at her.

Who?
Stakeholder #2 is Jenifer Ringer.  Age 36 (at the time of the controversy), her white marble skin, dark brown wavy hair, full cheeks, and slim figure, make her appear to be younger than she appears. When being interviewed by NBC's Today Show on the controversy, her answers well thought out and straight forward, and she projects a no-nonsense personality.  Her voice is soft and even, perhaps due to the fact that she is the mother of a young child.  As a dancer, we do not speak as much publicly.  It was interesting to me to see how well -spoken she was publicly, since that is not a huge part of her career. In terms of mannerisms, there are non that seem glaring.  In fact, most of her movements she shows are graceful like that in her dancing.

Claims
1) Ringer claims that this is just "one person’s opinion out of 2,000 people who were there," and that there were obviously plenty of people out there who felt differently than Macaulay did.

2)  She also points out to the interviewer that "if you’re too thin, you really can’t do the job."  Eating disorders may leave the dancer thinner, but it also leaves them too weak for the job they need to do.

3)  Probably her biggest claim is this: "I am not overweight."  When asked how she responded to the review, Ringer answered by saying that after the initial shock she answered "I asked myself: Is my identity this review? No. Does this review define my worth? No. And I was able to dismiss it within about 15 minutes."

Validity
I would say that her claims are very valid.  In terms of her second claim, she has been a professional dancer since the age of 16, so she has probably seen  enough dancers who have suffered eating disorders and how it affects their dancing abilities. She also suffered from eating disorders herself, so she knows first hand what the effects are like on a dancer's career.  Being a weight conscious person, and having recovered from an eating disorder, she can probably realistically assess the shape that her body is in now.  Her first claim is also validated, by the number of people who leaped to her defense online.

Are Others Saying the Same Thing?
From what I can see, most of what Jenifer Ringer has said has lined up with the public's view on the situation.  She believes that right now her weight is not an issue.  However, unlike the public, she says that her body is a part of her work and that technically Macualay can criticize it.  In fact she is not asking for an apology from him.  However, she does not agree with Macaulay that she is too heavy.
